[[Category:Exotic Weapons]] [[Category:Rocket Launchers]]Gjallarhorn is an exotic heavy rocket launcher that is available in Destiny.[1] This weapon is ideal for Guardians of the Titan class, specifically in the use of zone control. As the weapon type suggests, Gjallarhorn fires Rockets, once impact has been made secondary sentries are deployed to gun down anything that passes by.[2]

[edit] Design

The weapon is very ornate in design, donning multiple decorative wolves along its exterior. The most notable of of these is the one protruding from the front, followed by a row of three smaller wolves on both sides of the weapon along the metal bands.

[edit] Trivia

  • According to Norse mythology, the God Heimdall is known as the bearer of Gjallarhorn, "whose blast can be heard in all worlds". The Eddas shows him blowing into the horn to signal the start of Ragnarök.
  • During the E3 2013 Behind Closed Doors Demo, it was called "It Was Raised By Wolves"[3]. Currently there are no direct links between wolves and Gjallarhorn. However the protagonist of The Jungle Book, Mowgli, was raised by wolves. The decision to add wolves came from the designers wanting to "infuse this horn of destruction with a beastly spirit."[4]
  • The 3-D Model designer at Bungie, Mark Van Haitsma (who was Gjallarhorn's designer), added a new wolf onto the weapon for each day he spent working on it. A total of 16 wolves so far can be seen adorning the various incarnations of the gun.[4]
  • In a Bungie Podcast, it was mentioned that Knights and gladiators were the inspiration behind Gjallarhorn.[5]
